According to data from IBÁ (Brazilian Tree Industry), Brazil’s pulp and paper production and exports reached record levels in 2022. Pulp production reached 25 million tons, an increase of 10.9% compared to the previous year, while exports reached 19.1 million tons, a historic 22% rise, according to IBÁ.
Breaking records, Brazil also reached 11 million tons in paper production, a 3.5% growth. Paulo Hartung, CEO of IBÁ, stated that the unity of a strong forest-based industry is the legacy that this sector is leaving for the country, increasingly showcasing its sustainable DNA to the world.
IBÁ’s 2022 data reinforce the strong trend toward the growing demand for biodegradable and renewable products, as exemplified by the cultivated forest sector.
China remains Brazil’s main buyer of pulp, according to IBÁ’s report, accounting for US$ 3.3 billion of the US$ 8.4 billion exported in 2022, followed by Europe with US$ 2.5 billion. In the case of Brazilian paper, Latin American countries represent the main market for national production, reaching US$ 1.9 billion in exports in 2022, a 56.4% increase compared to the previous year.
In 2019, anticipating the growth of the pulp and paper market, Dorf Ketal made a major investment in an experienced team of market specialists and researchers, establishing at its Research and Development Center in Nova Santa Rita (RS) a modern laboratory for the development and application of specialty chemicals designed specifically to serve the pulp and paper sector.
Dorf Ketal also brought to the sector the same successful formula already recognized in other areas of activity, based on the IES concept: innovation, environment, and safety as the foundation for the development of its products and services.
The specialized team at Dorf Ketal is constantly committed to working with an open and inquisitive mind, a strong service spirit, and a dedication to listening and discovering to better understand each client’s unique situation and find the best solution.
To meet the dynamic and innovative spirit of the pulp and paper market, we have launched differentiated technologies to support customers in their innovation and process optimization projects, namely:
PULPCLEAR™: bleaching aid for secondary pulp or recycled paper
DEFENDER™ and OXYTRON™: odor control in both paper and the environment, assisting in circuit closure and water reuse
OXITREAT™: oxidative residual scavenger for bleached pulp, preventing brightness reversion
REFINMAX™: specialized refining aid
Among other specialty chemical lines in our robust product portfolio, we highlight: IOTRON™ (demand control), LEMONITE™ (optical brightener), RETENMAX™ (retention and drainage aid), and CLEARLIQ™ (coagulants and flocculants). These have been standing out and gaining market share rapidly due to their high performance and efficiency, delivering proven cost-benefit advantages to our customers.
The Dorf Ketal team is always attentive to providing differentiated service compared to other chemical suppliers, building solid and long-lasting partnerships that increase your profitability.
